MyHorizon

Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 27, 2026

MyHorizon (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website myhorizon.guide (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit or use the Service. Please read it carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information — name and email address when you register for a free account.
  • Expert profile information — if you subscribe as a Contributing Expert or Directory Expert: bio, firm name, website, contact email, phone number, location (state and metro area), and professional specialty.
  • Payment information — billing details when you purchase a subscription. Payment data is processed by Stripe and is not stored on our servers.
  • User-generated content — Community Notes or other feedback you submit about transition content.
  • Communications — messages you send through expert contact forms or to us directly.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data — pages viewed, transitions browsed, checklist items completed, and features used.
  • Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — session cookies for authentication and analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used (see Section 5).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing.
  • Display expert profiles in our directory and route contact form submissions to the appropriate expert.
  • Save checklist progress and transition-tracking data for registered users.
  • Send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, subscription confirmations, and content review notifications.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve content, features, and user experience.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.

3. Information We Share

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Expert directory listings — If you are a listed expert, your profile information (name, bio, firm, location, specialty, website, and contact email) is displayed publicly on the Service.
  • Expert contact forms — When a user submits a contact form, your registered contact email receives the message. We retain a record of the contact request for analytics purposes.
  • Service providers — We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate the Service (see Section 4). These vendors are contractually bound to use your data only to provide their services to us.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyHorizon, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — If MyHorizon is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

The Service is built on and integrates with the following third-party services, each subject to its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — database hosting and user authentication. Your account credentials and application data are stored on Supabase-managed infrastructure.
  • Stripe — payment processing for expert subscriptions. Stripe receives your billing information directly and operates under its own privacy and security standards.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery. Your email address is passed to Resend to send account and notification emails.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — website analytics. Google may collect usage data through cookies. You can opt out via Google's Ads Settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery. Vercel processes web traffic data as part of serving the Service.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — session cookies that keep you signed in and allow the Service to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to help us understand how users interact with the Service. These do not identify you personally.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the Service.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will deactivate it and remove or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.

Expert profiles are deactivated (not immediately deleted) when a subscription lapses. Reactivating your subscription restores your profile.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information. Most profile data can be updated directly from your account page.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal information.
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format.
  • Opt-out of analytics — use your browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect and share, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
